Accessibility

OberBuilt Inc. wants everyone who runs a manufacturing or assembly business to be able to use OberBuilt Inventory. That includes people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, magnification, or a phone.
The standard we work to
OberBuilt Inventory is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. That is the level Manitoba law requires. It covers the app, its public pages at obinv.oberbuilt.ca, and our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Today the app partly meets this level. The gaps we know about are listed under "Known limits" below.
This page is about OberBuilt Inventory. The two promises below also apply to our website oberbuilt.ca and our other products: you can get information in another format, and you can tell us about a barrier. Use the same email address or postal address.
What we do today
Except where listed under "Known limits" below:
- Pages use real buttons, links, form fields and headings, so a keyboard and a screen reader can reach and name them.
- The controls we checked show a visible focus outline when you move to them with the keyboard.
- On a phone, the buttons we measured are at least 44 pixels high, and pages fit the screen without the whole page scrolling sideways.
- The text we measured meets the WCAG contrast ratio of 4.5 to 1 (3 to 1 for large text and controls).
- The terms page before you connect works with the keyboard alone, including scrolling the terms.
- The public home page works with JavaScript turned off.
- If you signed in by email and nothing has happened for a while, you are warned before you are signed out, and you can choose Stay signed in. Our automated accessibility tests check this warning.
We checked this on 26 September 2026. We went through every screen at phone size (390 pixels wide) and desktop size (1280 pixels wide) with a checking program we wrote. We measured contrast, control names, target sizes and keyboard focus. Then we fixed most of what we found.
On 27 September 2026 we checked again with axe, a standard accessibility checker. It looked at the app's screens and dialogs at both sizes, the billing and other notices that appear only in some situations, the public pages, the printed pick list and every email we send. We fixed what it found. We also checked that Settings and the complete-build and purchase-order dialogs work at 320 pixels wide without the page scrolling sideways. What is left is listed under "Known limits". This check is now part of our automated tests.
Known limits
We know about these gaps. We are working on them. If one of them stops you, email us and we will find another way to get you what you need.
- An automatic checker cannot find everything. A checker like axe finds only some kinds of barrier. Some things only a person can judge, such as whether a label makes sense. Please tell us if you find a barrier.
- Some rare messages are not in the automatic check yet. Messages that appear only when something goes wrong, or only in rare situations, were not all checked. For example, most error messages. Please tell us if one is hard to use.
- Not yet tested by a person using a screen reader. Control names and headings were checked in code, but nobody has yet used the app from start to finish with VoiceOver, NVDA or TalkBack.
- Small text links on a phone. Some text links are less than 44 pixels high on a phone, such as a link in a paragraph, a "Back to" link or a breadcrumb. The build numbers and bill of materials names on the builds list, and the names on the bills of materials list, are at least 44 pixels high on a phone and at least 24 pixels high on a computer.
- Pictures of the app on the home page are small on a phone and hard to read. Everything they show is also described in the text beside them.
- Some wide tables scroll sideways on a phone. These screens have tables that scroll sideways inside their own box: the bill of materials detail and edit screens, the New build screen, Settings, the complete-build and purchase-order dialogs, and the tables in our Privacy Policy. The page itself does not scroll sideways. The bills of materials list, the builds list, the shortage list and the build screens show cards on a phone instead.
- Time limits when you sign in by email. A sign-in code works for 15 minutes. If it runs out, ask for a new one. A sign-in by email always ends after 2 hours. You cannot make it longer, and you are not warned before it ends, so you need to ask for a new code to carry on. We do this to keep your account safe. If the time limits stop you, email us and we will help.
- Videos. Where a page of our website offers a video, the play button is a link that works with the keyboard, and the page tells you that the video comes from YouTube. Once you press play, the video plays in YouTube's own player, whose controls we cannot change. Every video we offer has captions. Some may be made automatically by YouTube and can contain mistakes; if you need an accurate version, email us and we will send you a written transcript within 5 business days. None has a separate audio description: if the video shows something you cannot get from its sound or captions, or from the text on the same page, email us and we will describe it for you.
- Pages we do not control. You sign in to QuickBooks Online on Intuit's pages. You pay and manage billing on Stripe's pages. We cannot change those pages. If you have trouble on them, email us and we will help.
Get information in another format
You can ask for anything we publish or send in another format, free of charge. That includes our Terms, Privacy Policy, prices, emails, and any screen in the app. We can offer, for example:
- large print;
- plain text or a document that works with your screen reader;
- plain language.
Email support@oberbuilt.ca with the subject "Accessible format", or write to us at the postal address below. Tell us what you need. We usually reply within 3 business days, and always within 5, to agree on a format that works for you. Then we will tell you when you will have it.
Tell us about a barrier
If anything we offer is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. That includes the app, our website, our emails, billing or support.
Email support@oberbuilt.ca with the subject "Accessibility", or write to us at the postal address below. If you can, include:
- the page or screen, and what you were trying to do;
- the device and browser you use, and any tools such as screen readers.
Someone else may write to us for you. Tell us how you want us to reply, for example in plain language or large print.
We usually reply within 3 business days, and always within 5, with what we will do.
We keep your message and our reply. Ask us and we will tell you what we did about it.
